Job Opportunity: Level 3 Teaching Assistant
Location: SS Peter & Paul Catholic Primary School, part of Our Lady Help of Christians Multi Academy Trust
Salary: Scale 3 SCP 5 (£12.85 - £13.05 per hour depending on experience)
Hours: 19.5 hours per week over 3 days days (8.30am–3.30pm), term time only (38 weeks)
The Governors of Our Blessed Saints Catholic Federation wish to appoint a highly motivated, nurturing and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Primary School.
This role will primarily support our Early Years Foundation Stage provision and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of our youngest learners within a warm, caring and ambitious school community.
Following our recent Ofsted inspection, the school was recognised for its strong culture of learning, high expectations, effective support for pupils and its deliberate focus on developing children's language and reading from the earliest stages. We are looking for a teaching assistant who shares these ambitions and can play a key role in helping us continue our journey of improvement, particularly within Early Years.
The successful candidate will:
- Work closely with the EYFS team to support children's learning and development.
- Promote high-quality interactions that develop children's language, communication and vocabulary.
- Support the delivery of a systematic phonics programme and early reading development.
- Assist in creating engaging indoor and outdoor learning environments.
- Deliver targeted interventions and small-group support.
- Help children develop independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours.
- Support assessment through careful observation and recording of children's learning.
- Contribute to children's personal, social and emotional development.
- Undertake general Teaching Assistant duties, including preparation of resources and 30 minutes daily lunchtime supervision.
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Has experience of working within EYFS or demonstrates a strong desire to develop expertise in Early Years education.
- Understands child development and the EYFS Framework.
- Has knowledge of phonics and early reading development.
- Can model excellent language and communication to extend children's vocabulary and understanding.
- Has high expectations of children's learning, behaviour and achievement.
- Is reflective, proactive and committed to continuous improvement.
