Year 6 Leavers’ Celebrations 15th, 16th and 19th July – UPDATED

Dear Parents/Carers,

As the end of term nears, I am writing to you with more details about our Year 6  trips which will take place on Thursday 15th , Friday 16th July and Monday 19th July .  If there are any questions that I do not answer in this letter, then please email sspp.year6@taw.org.uk.

Thursday 15th July

Activity Timings Extra information
Forest school with canoeing 9 to 4.30pm ·         Children should wear normal forest school clothing and should not get wet.

·         A complete change of clothing should be brought just in case they are too wet/muddy for the BBQ

BBQ at school 4.30 to 5.30pm ·         Please advise us of any specific dietary requirements via the class email sspp.year6@taw.org.uk.

·         If you are unable to attend the parent gathering at then your child should be collected at 5.30pm.

Parents’ gathering 5.30 to 6.30pm ·         Parents are invited to join us on school site for a cake and a chat.

·         The invite is limited to two adults per child so that we can limit numbers.

·         Adults will be able to sit in groups but those groups will need to remain consistent and adults remain seated where possible.

·         Children will be allowed to move freely as they are one bubble.

·         Photographs can be taken but should not be shared on social media.

·         Children WILL NOT be allowed to walk round with their own phones since we are on school site.

 

Please note that the invite is limited to two adults per child for the parent’s gathering.

 

Friday 16th July

Timings

Children will leave school at 9am prompt and return to school at 4.50pm.

What to wear:

  • Swimming costume or swim shorts under clothes
  • Quick drying clothes on top:
  • Old Shorts or cycle shorts, NO DENIM
  • Old T shirt
  • Old Fleece top, no sweatshirts if possible as they soak up water
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Old trainers or beach shoes/neoprene boots
  • A hat or cap to protect head if sunny.

ALL THE ABOVE CLOTHING MAY GET WET

What to bring

  • Sun cream
  • A towel

A complete set of warm dry clothes with an extra warm fleece or jumper. This must include underwear! (Girls and boys changing rooms with toilets and showers will be available to use).

  • Inhalers or medication if required

 

What to expect

Children will have the opportunity to either sail ‘Toppers’ with 2 children on each or a larger boat that will accommodate 2 or 3 people in each. If your child is nervous about sailing, the larger boats would make them feel more secure.  Please email us to let us know if this is the case.

Monday 19th July

A Leavers’ Service will be held via Teams at 11am on Monday 19th July.  This will be recorded and available for viewing after the event.  A Teams invite to the assembly will be issued nearer the time.

Year 6 Weekly Overview 28.6.21 to 2.7.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

What an energetic and busy week we have had launching our Olympics Mini Adventure!  The year 6 team are so proud of all your children this week especially during the sports leadership sessions.  They independently designed activities, organised equipment, demonstrated skills and encouraged and supported the younger children.  The team work was outstanding!

The adventure continues next week with lots more opportunities to be active. 4. Year 6 Weekly Planning 28.6.21 to 2.7.21 There will also be an opportunity for year 6 to visit our church one final time as pupils of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary.  Please note that an email was sent out explaining details of this including a 3/3.15pm pick up at the church (unless attending after school club).

Feast of St Peter and St Paul’s Mass

Dear parents and carers,

Next Tuesday, 29th June, year 6 will be walking to St Peter and St Paul’s Catholic church to attend mass to celebrate the Feast of St Peter and St Paul’s

We will be leaving School around 1:30pm for a 2pm start.  Year 6 will be the only bubble in church that day in line with Covid19 restrictions, the usual hand hygiene procedures will be followed.

As we will not be back at school at the finish time can you please collect you child from the church car park between 3 – 3:15pm.

Any child that is booked into afterschool club will walk back to school with staff.

Year 6 Weekly Overview 21.6.21 to 25.6.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please find attached the weekly overview for next week 3. Year 6 Weekly Planning 21.6.21 to 25.6.21.  As you can see, we have a very active week planned with our new mini adventure – The Olympics.  Please make sure your child is dressed in their PE kit Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  If you do not have 3 sets, then plain coloured clothing is acceptable but NO football kits please.

Year 6 Weekly Overview 14.6.21 to 18.6.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please find attached the weekly overview for next week Year 6 Weekly Planning 14.6.21 to 18.6.21.

We have had a very exciting four days already with our ‘Because…’ music min adventure.  Highlights included:

  • Children wrote a haiku and composed then transcribed their own music using Hans Zimmer’s ‘Earth’ as their inspiration.
  • Children used the opening notes of ‘Here comes the sun’ by The Beatles to create their own version with a different mood in mind.
  • Children created information texts about The Beatles and listened to their songs whilst working.
  • Children watched and wrote about  Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.

Year 6 Leavers Celebrations

We have been made aware that some parents are unable to see the Year 6 leavers celebrations on ParentPay. We have hopefully now rectified the problem.
