Home Learning for Wednesday 18th November

Dear parents, first of all, a big thank you and well done to you all for getting on with the home learning so well. The children had a great first day settling into the swing of things so I thank you all for your patience and perseverance. I appreciate how tricky it can be, doing it myself too.

Please find attached home learning for Wednesday. I have managed to create some pre-recorded voice over PPTs for English and maths that the children could use alongside their worksheets. The files are quite big so it may take a little time to down load, I think the children would appreciate them especially as in the English file i have managed to record the next chapter of our class text.

I have amended the plan for the week, so I have attached that too.

13.11.20 Spellings and Homework

WK2

This week homework is attached. Another busy week in Year 5 this week.  Miss Staniforth is updating the newsletter with our ‘goings on’ in classroom this week.

Just a gentle note to remind children not to bring in things into school that aren’t essential. This week we have had Pokémon cards (which are banned), notebooks and make- up found in the cloakroom.

Have a super weekend, any queries or concerns please email me.

Kind Regards

Year 5 Spellings and Homework

What a great first week back we have had!!

The children have been Nasa trainees for our launch to our topic ‘Intergalactic’ on Monday. They designed rocket prototypes, spacesuits and created movements to the ‘The Planets’ by Holsts. The children have also questioned whether the earth is round, and put forward their theories and facts they already know! The children have made a fantastic 3D earth from play dough, where they have labelled the layers of the earth using different coloured dough.

Could all children bring in the recyclable materials they need to build the rocket prototypes no later than Tuesday 10th November.

Attached is this week homework and this half terms spellings. Please email me with any issues or concerns. Have a great weekend.

Homework 2.10.20

The children have had a fantastic week, making Greek masks from Modroc and then painting them and learning about the life cycle of the Greek Horse. In English, we created a campfire scene the classroom and read Greek myths and legend aloud to each other before creating our own mythical creature using key vocabulary and descriptive language.  Children also planned and wrote some excellent myths of their own. In history, we looked at the Greek democratic system and compared it to our own in Britain today. Outside, the children created their own parliament scene and voted on different topics.

Attached is this weeks homework.

Any issues or concerns, please feel free to contact me. Have a restful and safe weekend. See you on Monday.

Year 5 Homework and spellings

The children have had a super week in school this week. We began our new mini adventure ‘Who Let the Gods Out – The Greeks’. The children responded well and instantly made links between our new topic and their prior learning about The Romans from Year 4. We are excited to continue learning this fascinating topic.

The children will be coming home with their first set of homework. i have also attached it below. Every Tuesday, Mrs Smith teacher children about spelling rules and gives children a new spelling list to learn. These spellings will be tested on the following Tuesday.  Homework will be given out every Friday, with these spellings and is expected back in school no later than Wednesday 23rd September. I have also given children IXL password again to practise at home too.

Any issues or queries, please feel free to contact me.

Here are a few snippets of Our fabulous forest school sessions.
