Year 6 Home Learning 18.5.20

Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope this finds you all well. Did you enjoy the SSPP portrait gallery video this week? A new video will be released on Monday and we think you will be amused by this one!

Please find attached the home learning pack for this week. 18.5.20 Year 6 Home Learning Pack. Please send any photos or comments to our class email address (sspp.year6@taw.org.uk) because we are both missing you and your news.

New additions this week include:

  • IXL tasks based on division.  Remember you can always ask if you need some help.
  • Facebook Live! Mrs Hughes-Harvey will be going live at 2pm next Thursday (21st May) with a shared Limerick write.  No preparation needed.
  • Brand new Duo Lingo tasks.  I know that some of you are becoming experts.
  • A science investigation based on density of liquids.

Take care and stay safe.

Year 6 Home Learning 4.5.20

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please find attached the home learning pack for this week.  4.5.20 Year 6 Home Learning Pack

New additions this week include:

  • Times Tables Rock Stars games for those who have completed their gig game.  You can also challenge each other (or teachers) to a rock slam.  If you have not received your log in details then please let ourselves or the office know.
  • A reminder about the SSPP Portrait Gallery. We would like as many children (and SSPP staff) as possible to take part in our ‘big art’ this week. We ask that each child creates a portrait of themselves, in any media, in any form! Further details can be found on class pages, the school FaceBook page or your email inbox.
  • New Purple Mash 2Do tasks linked to e-safety.  It is important that our children are staying safe with the increased amount of time being spent online.
  • A STEM activity related to VE day.  If you cast your minds back to the Autumn Term, I am sure you can recall our World War Two mini adventure.

Remember, we are available on our new class email to submit work or just say hi.  Take care and stay safe.

I look forward to seeing what you are up to, so if your moms and dads take photos, they can email them to the office email and I can look at your amazing learning happening!

Miss you all, so here is a virtual hug from me! ((O))

Over the next two weeks:

Our mini-adventure is going to be ‘The big breakfast!’

I would like the children to complete a topic based on:

  • Food and healthy diets
  • Cooking and preparing different foods
  • Growing their own plants
  • How plants grow

Things they could include:

  • Plan a menu, prepare and cook (with adult support) a breakfast for the family
  • Create a factfile on how plants and flowers grow
  • Grow your own seeds
  • Make a healthy plate with all the food groups
  • Write a set of instructions on how to make….

Take lots of photos and document what you make to share when we return!

Suggested Resources you can use to support your child:

  • Twinkl are allowing free access for parents
  • BBC bitesize
  • BBC supermovers! (We love this one – songs for everything!)

If your child has a keen interest in something we have not learned, why not create a project to share with the class? All knowledge is golden, so if they want to know more, we are happy to take their lead in their learning.

Why not try these ideas?

  • Start the Lego challenge
  • Make your own treasure hunt and map!
  • Or make salt dough Easter egg decorations?

We use www.literacyshed.co.uk and they have great videos, comprehension tasks and ideas. Take a look!

Year 6 SATs Homework and PowerPoint

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please find attached the PowerPoint from the SATs meeting earlier in the week (KS2 SATS Information for Parents – Spring 2020).

Also I have attached an outline of the homework (CGP Homework Books) for the next few months leading up to the SATs.  The table outlines which pages to complete in the CGP Books each week.

Please note that I have discussed the following with the children:

  • This homework enables us to cover ALL the content of books over the next few months.
  • The books need to be in school to be marked every Friday.
  • If it is taking more than half an hour to complete one book, then move on to the next book.
  • IXL can be used to support any areas of weakness in maths.

Thank you for your support.

Mrs Greenhead
